Abstract
Artificial silk, films, or other formed products of modified lustre are produced by adding styrol to the solutions to be spun or otherwise formed. The styrol may be added as such or as a di- or poly-styrol, and is preferably first dissolved in a solvent such as carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulphide, benzene, xylol, dipentene, terpinene, or pinene. Other organic dulling agents such as oils also may be present. In examples: (1) viscose is mixed with a solution of styrol in benzene; (2) viscose containing titanium dioxide is mixed with a solution of styrol in benzene; and (3) viscose containing xylol is mixed with a solution or dispersion of styrol.
