Abstract
435,816. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, and YOUNG, A. J., 61, Galveston Road, Putney, both in London. March 29, 1934, No. 9860. [Class 40 (v)] A time base circuit comprises a valve having three control electrodes, to one of which a pulse is applied when anode current flows while the other two control electrodes are interconnected so that a pulse is produced on a control electrode nearer the anode than that to which the pulse is first applied. A pulse is then applied to the control electrode next to the anode so that a cumulative accelerating discharge of the condenser is obtained. The Figure shows a pentagrid type valve adapted to receive synchronizing impulses through an input I and with the output taken from condenser K. When the grid current taken by the grid G1 is small, the output may be taken across condenser K1. If the charging current for K1 is small the constant current device X may be replaced by a high resistance. An arrangement with these modifications is described, Fig. 3 (not shown), with a separate screen grid voltage supply which in the case of a television receiver may be taken from the radio receiver supply while the anode supply for the oscillator is taken from the high tension supply to the cathode-ray tube. The screen grids G4, G5 may be omitted and a pentode valve used, Fig. 1 (not shown), or an octode may be used with the synchronizing impulses applied to the sixth grid.
