[Class 41] A cell suitable for the production of per-salts without the use of a diaphragm comprises a container a constituting one electrode and an electrode b nested within and uniformly spaced from the outer one ; one of the electrodes, the inner one in the apparatus shown, comprises a set of conductive patches g separated by insulating material. The patches may be provided by filling perforations in an insulating body with lead ; the insulating body may be hollow and filled with lead for interconnection of the patches. Alternatively a conducting body may be coated with patches of insulating material. The electrode a is provided with a cooling jacket c ; the electrode b may also be cooled. Bodies of glass or other insulator may be suspended between the electrodes to restrict the active volume.
