[Class 97 (i)] In an apparatus for inspecting the interior of the eye, consisting of an illuminating device and an observation device rotatably mounted on a common axle, the axle can be adjusted so as to lie vertically below the eye to be tested, and the illuminating and observation devices are vertically adjustable, either together on the common axle, or separately. The support comprises a fixed table 4 and a movable table 6 mounted on the table 4 by balls 5. A bar 14 extending across the lower part of the table 6 supports by means of balls 15 a bar 16 having longitudinal slots 17 in which the balls engage. Secured to the bar 16 and extending at rightangles thereto is a bar 18 also having slots in which engage balls 19 disposed between the bar and the fixed table 4. Coaxial spindles 8, 9 passing freely through the table 6 carry spindles 12, 13 respectively, which engage with racks 20, 21 slidably mounted in guides 41 in the table 4, so that by rotating either or both of the spindles the table 6 can be moved in any horizontal direction. The axle 22 carrying the rotatable arms 25, 26 is mounted in a sleeve 24 secured to the table 6, and can be adjusted vertically by a screw 23. The arm 25 can be clamped to the axle by a screw 30 and to the arm 26 by a screw 29. The illumination device for the eye consists of a slit lamp 28 and a lens 36, carried by a hollow arm 33 slidably supported by rollers 35 on an arm 34 secured to the arm 26, the lens 36 being adjustable vertically by a screw 38. The observation device 27 consists of a microscope which is adjustably mounted on the arm 25, in relation to which it can be displaced vertically by a screw 32.
