Abstract

422,975. Furniture frames. TRIGGS, W. W., 57, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.- (Kiesecker, J. P. ; 101, Park Avenue, New York, U.S.A.) Dec. 1, 1933, No. 33705. [Classes 52 (i) and 52 (ii)] A furniture frame construction comprises arches of channel-section metal, the legs of adjacent arches being interfitted and rigidly secured together. The Figure shows a chair comprising four bent metal channels 1, each in the form of a flat arch, with flanges extending outwards and upwards. The channels forming the sides telescope between the flanges of the channels forming the front and back of the frame ; they are secured by spot welding, and are encased in thin metal envelopes 2, 5, and finished with feet 3. The back frame 7 is of similar construction, but the flanges are inturned, and its lower ends fit in the flanges of the parts 1 and the casings 2 ; it has a brace 8. The back and seat are of flexible fireproof material, moulded to suitable forms, and secured by metal strips 9 upon spring clip-like supports 10 secured by a strip 12. The frame of a chest of drawers may be constructed like the seat portion and legs of this chair, the curved parts of the upper ends of the frame being covered by an inverted tray-like top piece.
