421,857. Insulation for motors. SIGMUND, F., and SIGMUND, J., (trading as SIGMUND PUMPEN BRUDER SIGMUND), and SIGMUND, M., Luttein, Olm³tz, Czecho- Slovakia. Nov. 28, 1933, No. 33313. Convention date, Nov. 28, 1932. [Class 35] In a submersible motor with liquid-tight sheathings for the stator windings, as described in Specifications 354,074 and 407,515, the sheathings, which are entirely separate from the casing and enclose the windings only, consist of body portions surrounding the windings and readily separable portions enclosing the end connections. The body portions consist of tubes 9 inserted in the stator slots and furnished with flanges 10, 11 on which bear the rigid annular end portions 7, 8. Packing rings 20, 21 may be inserted between the end portions or the flanges may be formed of rubber &c. and formed with ribs 22, 23 engaging grooves in the end portions. The end portions are secured in place by screwed rings 16 and screws 17. Layers of pressboard 12 are interposed between the tubes 9 and the laminations and discs 25, 26 of brass or strong insulating material between the laminations and the flanges 10, 11. Wooden wedges are inserted between the tubes 9 and the openings of the stator slots. When the flanges 11 are made of rubber they are prevented from spreading by shoulders 28 on the discs 26. The tubes 9 may have pressboard linings 29. The leads are sheathed in rubber so as to form a water-tight joint with the sheathing, which may be partially exhausted.
