[Class 47 (ii)] A device for forming a mist or screen of atomized water and extinguishing a fire therewith, comprises a hollow bar 3 provided at one end with a hose coupling 4, at the other end with a pickaxe, hook, or spade 2 for breaking up the burning material, and near the latter end with several, as shown two, atomizing nozzles on stub pipes 1. Additional nozzles may be fitted at 1<d>. A strainer is fitted at the coupling 4. The nozzles preferably are angularly adjustable. Atomizing nozzles may be arranged on the waist belts or helmets of the firemen or on the hoses to throw a screen for protecting the firemen. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also an arrangement in which several nozzle bars 3 are supplied from a water tank, which may be mounted on a vehicle and is associated with a pump, Fig. 6 (Cancelled). The tank supplies two hoses 16 mounted on fixed reels 15 on the vehicle, and each hose 16 supplies three hoses 17 mounted on movable reels 18 and connected to nozzle bars 3. In use, the pump is started, and any required number of the hoses 17 run out to the fire centre or centres, firemen then manipulating the bars 3 to break up and extinguish the fire. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
