Abstract

427,892. Screwdrivers. FITZPATRICK CORPORATION, 421, 5th Avenue, Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. Oct. 27, 1933, No. 29904. Convention date, May 9. [Class 61 (iii)] The tapering end 7 of a screwdriver is of polygonal cross-section having concave curved or polyhedral side faces 3a, 3b which provide a plurality of vanes, and the tip 4 has an outer conical or convex portion the outermost part 5 of which is nearer the main body of the screwdriver than the point of convergence of the vanes. The arrangement provides vanes tapering in width towards the end and separated by grooves tapering in the reverse direction. The outer faces of the vanes are flat and tapered and the vanes are disposed equidistant from and diametrically opposite one another. Specification 427,893, [Group XXV], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes screwdrivers formed with knife edges 8, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), extending from a shoulder 9 or with diametrically arranged flutes 11, Fig. 7 (Cancelled), extending from points 12 on the shank to a common point of convergence at the outermost end of the tool. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
