Abstract

426,498. Hack-saw blades. NEILL & CO. (SHEFFIELD), Ltd., J., and SWAIN, G., Napier Street, Sheffield. Oct. 19, 1933, No. 28906. [Class 145 (ii)] A hack-saw blade has interspersed wide and narrow teeth, the wide teeth projecting on both sides beyond, and the narrow teeth being contained within, the thickness of the blade body. As shown, wide teeth 12 each having a cutting edge 16 wider than the blade width alternate with narrow teeth 17 the sides of which are co-planar with the sides of the blade body. The cutting edge 16 of the wide teeth may be continuous, or may be divided by a central recess 22 into two portions which are each equal in width to one half the width of the cutting edge of a narrow tooth. The teeth may all be of the same length, or the narrow teeth 17 may project beyond the teeth 12. The cutting edges and front and rear faces of the teeth are preferably at right angles to the median plane of the blade. The teeth 12 may be caused to project beyond the blade as described by a forging operation which simultaneously forms the recesses 22.
