Abstract
426,284. Hydraulic transmission of power. KIRKPATRICK, H. G., Ocean House, Martin Place, Sydney, Australia. Dec. 29, 1933, No. 36565. [Class 69 (ii)] Hydraulic variable speed and reversible transmission mechanism comprises a sunwheel, a carrier with planet wheels, braking means for the carrier, a ring gear, control valves and positive clutch means. In the form shown, the sunwheel 10 is fixed to the driving shaft 13, an extension 16 of the ring gear to the driven shaft 14 and a brake 24 acts on the carrier 18 for the planets 12 ; the control valves 28 are operated by a slidable member 30 which has dogs 37 adapted to engage dogs 38 on the sunwheel. In a modification, the ring gear is secured to the driving shaft and the sunwheel to the driven shaft, dogs on the valve-actuating mechanism being adapted to engage dogs on the ring gear body.
