Abstract
426,160. Bed-settees. HUNTER, D., 311, McRoberts Avenue, Toronto, Canada. May 24, 1934, No. 15498. [Class 52 (ii)] In a bed-settee in which the mattress frame comprises four foldable sections 16, 18, 19, 20, the first and second sections are connected by links 22, 25 to the frame, the seat 12 is pivotally connected to the second and fourth sections 18, 20 by links 33, 37, the third section 19 is pivotally connected to one end of a connecting rod 29 which is pivoted at its rear end to the forward link 25, and a collapsable leg 14 is pivoted to the seat and connected by mechanism to the forward link 25 so as to be brought into operative position when the bed is unfolded. The rear end of the first frame section 16 is pivoted to the rear link 22 and the second section 18 is pivoted to the forward link 25, both links being pivoted at their lower ends to a bar 23 secured to the frame of the settee, and being connected by a cross-link 26 which causes a greater angular movement of the link 25 than of the link 22. The link 25 extends beyond the pivot connecting it to the section 18, and to the upper end is pivoted a rod 29 which is pivoted at its forward end to the short third section 19. The folding mechanism for the leg 14 comprises a short link 31 pivoted to the forward link 25, and connected to the section 18 by a link 31<1>. A rod 43 connects the upper end of the leg 14 to the pivot connecting the links 31 and 311.
