[Class 3 (i)] In inflatable objects forming representations for advertising or display purposes in which a gas under pressure is admitted to the object under the control of a mechanically actuated valve, the object comprises more than one cell or chamber each representing an essential part thereof. The drawing shows a figure having inflatable members 22, 23, 24, 25 connected by tubing 31, 32, 21, 30 each to a slide valve 12 actuated each by a cam wheel 3 acting through a spring-controlled bell-crank 7, 10. The valve slide in its lower position admits gas from a reservoir connection 15 and in its upper position allows its exhaust through a port 17. Springs may be fitted in the inflatable members, or the ports 17 may be connected to a vessel at sub-atmospheric pressure, to facilitate collapse. In the case of large figures the cells may constitute tubular walls surrounding a hollow centre to which gas is not introduced. A radio-gramophone amplifier or other sound producing means may be associated and timed with the figure. The interior of the figure may be illuminated and the lamps controlled to give colour-changing or moving effects. The figure may form a relief representation on a poster.
