Abstract

411,949. Spindle-driving arrangements for silk and like spinning machines. SCRAGG & SONS, Ltd., E., and SCRAGG, T. W., Paradise Works, Macclesfield, Cheshire. Jan. 5, 1933, No. 332. [Class 120 (ii).] In silk &c. spinning machines of the kind in which the spindle 8 has a bowl upon it rotated by engagement with an endless driving belt running the length of the machine, definite engagement between the belt 10 and the bowl 9 is obtained by providing a catch 13, which may be spring pressed at 14, on a non-pivoted part of the spindle mounting, which, when the spindle is moved into the operative position, presses it forward slightly and completely prevents its movement away from the belt until the catch is released, e.g. by a lever 15, to allow the spindle to be moved to the inoperative position in which it is also held by the catch. A spring 11 is also provided for urging the spindle into engagement with the driving belt.
