Abstract

411,059. Tilting-pad bearings. KRUPP GERMANIAWERFT AKT.-GES., F., Gaarden, Kiel, Germany. Jan. 2, 1934, No. 134. Convention date, June 26, 1933. [Class 12 (ii).] In a tilting-pad thrust bearing having guide or deflecting ribs h between successive pads e arranged to pack against a thrust collar on the shaft a so as to supply fresh lubricating oil to the pad next following in the direction of rotation and to drain away used oil from the preceding pad, the guide ribs are inclined to the radial direction of the shaft and extend from the inner corner i of the oil-exit side of one pad to the outer corner k of the oil-inlet side of the next pad. The ribs h are riveted to spacing members or carriers g secured to a stationary ring d. An oil-supply passage l is arranged between the shaft and the pads and an outlet passage m communicates with a drain opening n in the casing wall. Where the carriers g are not employed, the ribs h are secured to the ring d.
