416,999. Mine-props. RAINE & CO., Ltd., FERGUSON, H. W. G., and MARCH, T. E., Gibb Chambers, Westgate Road, Newcastle-on-Tyne. May 18, 1933, Nos. 14429 and 16285. Addition to 400,457. [Class 20 (ii).] A modification of the collapsable metal pit-prop described in the parent Specification consists of the use of an axially sliding wedge-member 6, Fig. 1, disposed between the flanges of one prop member 1, to slide over the joint between the two prop members, and against an abutment member 5 disposed between the flanges of the other prop member 2. Alternatively, the wedge, or a parallel plate 9, Fig. 5, may be actuated by a lever 8, having an extension which enters a slot in the wedge or plate, and an eccentric boss which bears upon the surface of the plate when this is in the locking position.
