Abstract

416,200. Retorts for destructive distillation. LAMBOT, M., 225, Rue des AlliÚs, Forest, Brussels. Oct. 27, 1933, No. 29883. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1932. [Classes 51 (i), 51 (ii), and 55 (i).] In carbonizing apparatus, the fuel is supplied from a hopper 36 to the annular space enclosed between a cylindrical retort 18 having longitudinal grooves, and a central hollow core with perforations 24 through which the distillates are withdrawn, the core carrying a screw 22 which compresses and feeds the charge through the retort. Partitions 28, 29 and concentric tubes 30, 31 divide the outlets up into temperature zones from each of which the distillates are withdrawn separately through pipes 32, 33, and 34. Steam, gas, or liquid hydrocarbons are admitted through a pipe 35 extending to the bottom of the charge. The heating chamber 1 is supplied with hot gases through openings 2 from combustion chambers 3 having burners 11. The hot gases circulate around the retorts, and return through openings 4 leading by channels 5 to a conduit 8 provided with inlet and outlet pipes through which some of the hot gases are forced through a cooler 14 by a fan 15, whereby circulation of the gases is promoted, and their temperature controlled. The coke falls into a cooler 38 having interconnected doors 39, 40, the door 40 being provided on its axle with a notched disc 41, the notch 42 of which receives a rod 43 sliding in a sleeve 44. The door 40 through which the coke is renewed cannot be opened unless door 39 is closed, allowing the rod 43 to slide clear of the notch 42.
