Abstract

415,401. Printing-machines. QUICK, C. G., BALL, D. A., and WHITEHEAD, W. A., 109, Borough Road, London. Feb. 21, 1933, No. 5323. [Class 100 (i).] Folding paper; stapling-devices.-Printed products are folded and stapled by mechanism comprising tucking-blades 8 on a cylinder 1 coacting with a pair of rollers 2, 3, the roller 2 also constituting a stapling-cylinder. This arrangement enables two rotary cutting- mechanisms 10, 15 to be grouped around the folding-cylinder 1. The cylinders 1, 10, 15 may be adapted to collect sheets before folding, and the periphery of the cylinder 15 may be constituted by yielding pads 20 to accommodate varying thicknesses of products. A screwoperated wedge 35 engages a tapered cylindercarrying frame 34 to adjust the distance of the cylinder 2 from the roller 3, the frame 34 being also capable of screw-adjustment to vary the distance of the cylinder 2 from the cylinder 1. The folded and stapled product passes over guides 24 to pressing rollers 22, 23 and delivery apparatus. The rollers 3, 23 are yieldingly mounted and the guides 24 are adjustablyfixed to a pivotal-support 28 which is yieldingly mounted.
