Abstract
414,165. Door latches. HARRISON, E., 2, Lathom Street, Bury. March 11, 1933, Nos. 7383 /33 and 7365 /34. [Class 44.] The retaining strap d for a pivoted door latch a is provided with an inclined guide d<1> at its upper part so that when the latch bar is lifted, as by a thumb lever, the bar is also moved backwards to lie over a ledge f formed on the back member of the strap and thus the latch bar remains lifted until such time as the door is again closed, whereupon the latch bar is dropped by its end engaging the hook plate on the doorway frame and so moving the bar off the ledge f. To lock the latch the strap may have an elbow slot into the horizontal part of which is slid a stud slidably mounted on the latch bar ; alternatively the inclined guide d<1> may be formed on a disc which can be turned 180‹ to act as an abutment preventing the latch rising.
