Abstract
403,219. Powder boxes. WURZBURGER, P., 11, Rue Labie, Paris. Dec. 2, 1932, No. 34207. Convention date, Jan. 4. [Class 18.] A powder box comprises a compartment 2, Fig. 2, for powder and a sieve 12 which supports a puff 10 ; and when air is driven into the compartment 2 by a pump or a rubber bulb 4, a cloud of powder is blown on to the puff. The powder is supported on an apertured plate 11 and the space 1 underneath constitutes an air compression chamber. The sides of the box may be vertical instead of inclined. In a modification, the sieve 12, Fig. 7, a cylinder 16, and the plate 11 constitute a piston arrangement pressed down against a spring or springs 15 by the lid 18. A leather cup washer 6 is held between the plate 11 and cylinder 16 so that, when the cover is removed and the piston forced upwards by the spring, air passes between the washer and the side of the box and enters the chamber 1. On the lid being replaced, the piston is forced downwards and the air in chamber 1 which cannot now escape past the washer blows the powder on to the puff. The cover may be hinged to the box and the piston moved up-and-down by means of the puff.
