Abstract
<PICT:0402449/IV/1> <PICT:0402449/IV/2> A spinning-jet of the disc type for the production of artificial filaments, threads, yarns, and the like, has a thin face curved to resist distortion, and spinning orifices bored through the face in a direction parallel to the axis of the jet. The jet face may be concave or convex. The jet face may be curved by stamping, pressing, or spinning when the jet is being formed into the usual cup-like shape, or the jet may be submitted to the action of a fluid under very high pressure. The orifices are bored after the formation of the curved face of the jet. As shown in Fig. 2, the orifices 13 which are bored after the bulging of the jet face 10 are parallel to the axis of the jet and to each other. As shown in Fig. 3, the face of the jet is curved inwardly. The orifices 13 are bored parallel to the axis of the jet and not perpendicular to the jet face. The construction of jet may be applied to dry or wet spinning processes and in particular to high speed dry spinning of cellulose acetate.
