[Class 104 (ii).] In a rail joint, a portion of each rail on the outer side is cut away to form a recess for the tread 6 of the outer fish plate 1, the tread being curved longitudinally so as to rise slightly above the rail tread at the middle and to be slightly below it at the ends 4, 5, Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 7196/89 and 14649/01, [both in Class 104, Railways &c.].
