Abstract

A composition for surfacing artificial cricket pitches and other sporting surfaces consists of fibrous material, plastic material of the nature of clay, and very finely divided non-plastic, preferably siliceous material. A typical composition contains 16-44 per cent of asbestos, 0-24 per cent of sawdust, 6-12 per cent of clay, with silica and fine sand as the balance. It is applied in a moist condition and consolidated with a cold or heated roller.
