Abstract
401,015. Railway wagons. ALLEN & SONS (TIPTON), Ltd., W. G., WEDDELL, A., and TOLHURST, W. T., Princes End, Tipton, Staffordshire. May 10, 1932, No. 13400. [Class 103 (iv).] In a colliery corve or like wagon of the type which is built up by assembling two side plates, two end plates and a bottom plate, with the side and end plates overlapping at round corners, the side plates a and end plates c are formed with horizontal corrugations a<1>, cl which extend throughout the whole length of the plates, whereby the corrugated parts a4, c<4> that overlap at the corners serve to prevent relative vertical or twisting movement between the side and end plates. In the construction shown the invention is applied to a corve with a flat bottom d, and the side and end plates are jointed at the corners by bolts e applied at the corrugations and by bolts f applied intermediately. The upper edges are reinforced by a tubular bead g, portions c<5> of which on the end plates receive a rod h that projects at its ends h<2> into abutting portions a<5> on the side plates. In a modification the invention is applied to a well-bottomed corve which may have slightly inclined ends.
