Abstract

409,441. Pulley-blocks. ATKINSON, W. A., 26, Benslow Lane, Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Dec. 13, 1932, No. 35328. [Class 78 (v).] In blocks of the kind in which the pulley head block 3 is provided with two or more pulley wheels, the pulley wheels 6, 7 are arranged in tandem fashion and spaced apart, and looking mechanism 30 is provided operating in conjunction with the free end of the rope or chain whereby locking or unlocking of the rope, &c. can be effected. Each side plate of the head has a pair of downwardly extending lugs 14 which provide a space between the pulley wheels to enable the bottom block 4 to move into close proximity to the head. The cam shaped locking member 30 is pivoted to a sleeve 28 through which the free end of the rope 5 passes and which is carried by arms 29 pivotally mounted on the axle of the pulley wheel 7. The member 30 has an arm 32 which is pivoted to one end of a link 33. The other end of this link is pivoted to an anchor block 34 adjustably secured between the side plates. The rope is locked by moving its free end away from the block.
