Abstract
408,115. Heels for footwear. GRIFFITHS, W. H., 311, High Street, Bangor, Carnarvonshire. June 23, 1933, No. 17904. [Class 17 (ii).] Means for detachably and interchangeably connecting a heel to an inner sole or other foundation member of a boot or shoe comprises projections on one part adapted to be engaged by relative sliding movement in slots in the other part, removable locking means, such as a staple, insertible from within the boot &c. serving to hold the projections and slots in looking position. In the form shown in Figs. 1, 3, metal plates 20, Fig. 3 and 26, Fig. 1 are secured respectively to the heel and insole 25, and these are provided with co-operating slots 23 and projections 28 respectively which are retained in the position in which they can be slidably locked together by a staple insertible from inside the shoe, by lifting a flap cut in the inner sole 25, in holes 33, 34 in the plates 20, 26. Instead of bent-over projections 28, as shown in Fig. 1, these projections may be in the form of headed studs for engagement in key-hole slots, or of dovetailed shape for sliding engagement in slots of corresponding form. The plate 26 secured to the insole may be a continuation of the usual shank stiffener.
