Abstract
406,534. Closures for bottles &c. HANFORD, H. H. R., 1669, Nelson Street, Vancouver, Canada. June 2, 1933, No. 16019. [Class 125 (iii).] A closure for bottles, jars, &c., of the kind comprising a depending rim provided with vertical corrugations throughout the whole of its periphery, the said corrugations forming on the interior of the rim a plurality of projections which engage with substantially the same force the lower part of the bead on the bottle neck, is provided with one or more downward extensions, the widths of which are less than 120‹ or 180‹ respectively of the rim periphery and substantially constant throughout the major portion of their length, having straight stiffening ribs constituting prolongations of the corrugation ribs above the extensions, said ribs extending downwardly to merge into channelshaped portions forming the lower margins of the extensions. As shown the channel-shaped portion 12 is curved outwardly and the rim is provided with lines of weakness 13. The rim may form part of an annular sealing ring having a horizontal corrugated flange seating on the margin of a circular disc closure.
