Abstract
406,335. Boot - making machines. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., Belgrave Road, Leicester.- (Assignees of Miner, G. A. ; Medford, Massachusetts, U.S.A.) Aug. 23, 1932, No. 23539. Convention date, Aug. 24, 1931. Addition to 354,205. [Class 17 (i).] Removing shoes from lasts.-The machine described in the parent Specification is modified by the interposition of a flexible sheet between the roll 16 and the shoe. A shelf 72 may be attached to the casing 10 of the machine, hooks 74 and legs 76 being kept in engagement with the casing by a hook 88 having a shank adjustable in length secured to an arm projecting through an opening 78 in the casing from a cross-shaft 82, the arm contacting with the upper edge of the opening and legs 86 on the shaft contacting with a partition 12. The feet carry pins supporting a tube over which an endless belt 100 passes. The belt may be a short section of the inner tube of a pneumatic tyre, and also encircles the roll 16 and a rod 98 supported by the hooks 74. The belt is too slack to be driven by the roll except when the shoe is pressed rearwards against it, and is braked by a cleaning brush 110 driven in the same direction as the roll. A depending apron may be substituted for the belt.
