Abstract
404,801. Manifolding. MORLAND & IMPEY, Ltd., and RENDALL, A. G., Mill Lane, Northfield, Birmingham. Dec. 23, 1932, No. 36430. [Class 16.] A carbon sheet has a carbon coating on both sides, and one coating is covered by a layer of wax or the like which on being compressed by a typewriter or writing-instrument becomes transparent and allows the carbon layer to show clearly, thereby enabling the carbon sheet to serve as one of the copies. Preferably, cheap-grade paper is employed for the carbon sheet, and paraffin or other crystalline wax is applied in a thin, stippled, non-transparent layer which may be tinted to increase legibility. To promote adhesion of the layer, the carbon surface may be treated with a binding-agent such as a solution of ester gum in dibutyl phthalate containing alumina in suspension. When the carbon sheet is placed between a transparent and a plain sheet of paper, three copies are obtained by the use of only one carbon sheet.
