Abstract

392,909. Disinfecting air. LEFTWICH, S. H., Glen Druid, Staines Road, Sunbury-on-Thames. Sept. 18, 1931, No. 26123. [Class 81 (i).] An apparatus for humidifying air comprises a casing containing a disinfecting or sterilizing liquid in a reservoir 7 and a fan 11 drawing air at 8 through an inverted conical filter or screen 12 and discharging from the casing at 5 ; an electric motor 9 driving the fan carries on its shaft a tube 14 immersed at its lower end in the liquid and having an internal spiral vane or vanes 15 to lift it into radial pipes 16 or nozzles at the top of the tube and discharge it on to the pervious screen. The screen 12 may be of gauze or wire netting covered by filter cloth. Baffles in the reservoir prevent the liquid from surging.
