Abstract

391,161. Davits. BURRILL, L. C., BOCLER, H., and HUNTER, N. M., Wallsend Shipyard, Wallsend-on-Tyne. Oct. 19, 1931, No. 29002. [Class 115.] In davits of the kinds comprising a pair of struts c pivoted to the deck and carrying at their heads rocking jibs e from the outward end of which the boat is supported by the falls a, the jibs being swung outwards relatively to the struts c during the luffing movement of the latter, the rigid members g, which effect this rocking movement are pivoted at their lower ends to supports j which lie over and somewhat outboard of the supports d on which the main struts are carried. This arrangement enables the gear, when the gripes z are released to drop the chocks u, which incidentally also lock the struts c, to move outboard under gravity either under control of the boat falls alone or under control of additional lifts attached to the jibs e.
