Abstract

398,234. Pack-carriers. COLLING- WOOD, C., 72, Mawson Road, Cambridge. March 10, 1932, No. 7188. [Class 141.] A pack-carrier for pedestrians comprises a frame of wood or metal tubing having a canvas wrapping arranged around it in such a manner that air can circulate between the load and the wearer's back. The frame is formed of two vertical bars 1 and two cross struts 2, of rectangular or circular section, and a rectangular piece of canvas 4 is wrapped round the vertical bars 1 so as to leave a gap 5 between its adjacent edges 6 which are drawn together by lacing 8. Adjustable shoulder straps 10 are attached to the front face of the canvas 4, and two collapsable bags 12 are attached to the back face. Hooks 9 fastened to the bars 1 serve to keep the canvas 4 in position and as points of attachment for cordage by which a load may be lashed to the carrier.
