[Class 108 (i).] In means for connecting parts of a structure together, particularly applicable to motor vehicles, comprising a frame member or jointing strip having a channel therein and a panel member jointed thereto, the panel member has its edges flanged in an inclined manner and passed into the channel member wherein it is clamped by a clamping strip. Fig. 1 shows a pillar formed of two engaging strips 1, 4 each having a flat bottomed V-shaped groove 2 or 5 into which down-turned edges 7 of the panels 6 enter and are secured by a device comprising wedge-shaped strips 8, 9 clamped together by a stud 10. In Fig. 6 the pillar is a window pillar and the glazing bars 11 comprise strips the edges 12 of which are also secured in the groove. The edges of the panels may be formed as shown at 6a so that the wedging strip tends to tension the panel 6. Fig. 2 shows a roof stick formed with oppositely disposed grooves arranged side by side so that both the inner and outer panels 22, 18 may be secured, nipples 35 or studs 37 being integral with the strip for engagement by the stud 34 or nut 36. The wedging strips may be of sheet metal as shown at 32, Fig. 4, which shows a flooring plate 33 secured to the joists. Fig. 7 shows a roof stick in which the groove opens out into a hollow form 25 for the inclusion of a wood &c. block to which the ceiling plates may be secured by screws &c.
