Abstract
394,035. Sanitary and hygienic devices. SCHOENFELD, L., 24, Holborn, London. Jan. 6, 1932, No. 428. [Class 40 (iv).] A readily detachable hygienic attachment for the mouthpieces of telephones, speaking. tubes, &c. comprises a carrier adapted to con. tain or be impregnated with a disinfectant, the impregnated carrier or the lid of the container being pivotally mounted in such manner that it can be turned when desired in order to present alternate faces to the user. Figs. 2 and 3 show a construction employing an annular container 1 for rings 4 of disinfecting material, the base and/or inner wall of the container being perforated or slotted so that the disinfecting medium can readily pass into the mouthpiece. A lid 3 is pivoted on the container by a ball and socket connection 12, 13 so that it can be raised when desired and turned so as to present its freshly disinfected opposite face to the user, the ball 12 being formed with three depressions 17 adapted to co-operate with a projection 18 on a spring-pressed washer 16 in the socket 13. A split spring ring 5, secured in a channel in the underside of the container, is formed with out-turned parts 7 and projections 8 adapted to grip the inner surface of the mouthpiece. The ring is also provided with pins 9, Fig. 3, which, project through slots in the body of the container so that the ring can be collapsed in order to remove the device from the mouthpiece In addition to or in lieu of the ring 5, the device may be provided with clips, prongs or blades adapted to engage either the wall of the mouthpiece or the perforated plate at the base thereof. Fig. 7 shows a modification employing annular pads 25 impregnated with disinfectant adapted to be gripped in a spring clip 23 carried by a ball and socket device 24 on an arm 22 on a split spring ring 19 engaging over the exterior of the mouthpiece 20. If desired, this ring may include lugs 21 having inturned ends adapted to pass over the rim of the mouthpiece. According to a modification of this arrangement the pads 25 are located in a container mounted on the ring 19.
