Abstract

388,897. Resistance measurements. CROCKATT & SONS, Ltd., W. and CROCKATT, W. C., 62, Darnley Street, Glasgow. Jan. 7, 1932, No. 463. [Class 37.] Apparatus for measuring the properties of liquids by their electrical conductivity, for example the density of brine or boiler water, the concentration of acids or salt solutions, and of the type comprising a conduit for the liquid flow in which the electrodes project into the conduit and are longitudinally adjustable, has the conduit 3 mounted in glands 6, and inner tubes 11 mounted in glands 7 encase conductors 8 connected to exposed electrodes 9. One or both of the inner tubes 11 are adjustable by means of the caps 12. The electrodes may be formed as long rods within the tubes 11. The conduit and tubes 3, 11 are carried on a bracket 13 with intervening insulation 14., In order to reduce leakage current, the cell conduit may be connected to two other conduits thus forming a higher resistance path to earth. The indicating instrument may be compensated for temperature variations as in Specification 266,047, [Class 37, Electricity, Measuring &c.].
