Abstract

386,176. Reinforcedconcrete floors. WYLIE, A. R., 634, Hinman Avenue, Evanston, Illinois, U. S. A. April 4, 1932, No. 9591. [Class 20 (iv).] Floors 17 are supported by integral arched beams 13 carried by columns 11 which are placed inwardly from the walls. The beams extend at their outer ends as cantilevers and are disposed obliquely, forming a series of square panels with projecting triangular panels 15 adjacent the walls. The beams are reinforced near the extrados and intrados by rods 19, 20 anchored in the columns. The walls 10, 10a are carried at the edges of the panels 15, only the lowest walls 10b being carried by the foundation. Joints 18 filled with plastic cement are provided to allow for settling of the structure. The walls 10a are cut away to make room for large windows. The panels f5 may be reinforced by ribs 10c.
