Abstract

386,054. Saddles. GOUGH & CO. (SADDLES), Ltd. and PRESTON, H. C., 229, Brearley Street, Birmingham. Oct. 8, 1931, No. 27910. [Class 136 (iii).] A top or seat for motor-cycle &c. saddles comprises a block of sponge rubber moulded to shape and located above a panel or baseboard of wood or other light but rigid material and a layer of resilient material located between the block and the baseboard, the parts being enclosed within a cover secured to the baseboard. The form shown comprises a moulded block a of sponge rubber, a bag or casing b of fabric loosely filled with pieces of sponge rubber, a rigid base c of wood or other light material, and a cover d of leather &c. having its edges cemented, nailed, &c. to the base c. The front part of the top may be hinged to the underframe e and the rear part supported thereon by springs. The bag b may be dispensed with, and the block a formed with a cellular lower layer, the base c being pierced with air-vent holes registering with the open bottoms of some or all of the cells.
