Abstract

372,603. Packing-cases &c. USHER, G. B., Rugby Road, Rugby Place, Charlottesville, Virginia, U.S.A. June 20, 1931, No. 17935. [Class 18.] A packing-case or like container with its side walls 1, Figs. 1 and 4, made from a single sheet of semi-flexible fibrous material such as cardboard, paperboard, millboard, pulpboard or other cellulose and fibre products is provided with a recessed bottom 22 held in place by turning the lower margins of the sides 1 around a flange 29 of the bottom, and inserting in the recess of the bottom a metal hoop 32, Fig. 6, which is secured by flexible metal tongues 33, by a pair of crossed sticks 35, Fig. 7, held by a pair of wires 36 or by a lattice 32, 35, Fig. 5, made e.g. of folded fibreboard and held by metal clips 33. The sides and bottom may be perforated for ventilation and spacing members 10 may be formed at the top by folding over the material of the sides. The lid may be of metal or fibre board and has a marginal flange engaging inside the member 10 and is held by bent-over metal fastenings 19 passing through apertures 18
