Abstract
371,406. M i x i n g - m a c h i n e s. GOLDBY, F. L., Chequers, London Road, Staines, Middlesex. Jan. 17, 1931, No. 1634. [Class 86.] In an ice-cream freezer of the kind in which the frozen cream is extruded from a rotary cylinder mounted in a cooling chamber and containing an oppositely rotating dasher shaft, the shaft is provided with propelling blades 3 at the feed end of the cylinder followed by framelike agitating blades 4 and an extruding screw 8, the blades being twisted and mounted so as to form an interrupted helical blade. The cream, together with incorporated air, is forced by a pump into one end of the cylinder through a port 22, Fig. 3, in the shaft, which is hollow, and extruded through an opening 9 controlled by a valve 10 at the opposite end. The extruding screw may be secured to a plate 7 carried by the dasher shaft, or the plate and screw may be detachably connected to the shaft. The blades 3 may be formed with parts 3b for scraping the feed end of the cylinder, and the shaft provided with blades x, y, 4, Fig. 3, the blades y, 4 having scrapers adapted to be adjusted to clean the cylinder wall and the blades 4 perforate plates 5. The shaft is provided with a centring-jug 30.
