Abstract

371,076. Water-tube steam boilers. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd., Babcock House, Farringdon Street, London.-(Babcock & Wilcox Co. ; 85, Liberty Street, New York, U.S.A.) Feb. 6, 1931, No. 3880. [Class 123 (ii).] In a boiler having a single steam and water drum 4, Fig. 1, and horizontally inclined tubes 3 connected to uptake and downtake headers 15, 9, each header is connected to the drum by a connector of the same cross section as the header. The uptake connectors 16 extend horizontally across the top of the boiler and are arranged in different planes. The plugs 13, Fig. 2, closing the handholes opposite the ends of the boiler tubes are inserted through a large handhole at the bottom of each header.
