Abstract
370,166. Centrifugal pumps. DRYSDALE & CO., Ltd. and DRYSDALE, J. W. W., Bon-Accord Works, Yoker, Glasgow. March 19, 1931, No. 8435. [Class 110 (i).' A self-priming pump comprises a central suction inlet 4 provided with an air-separating chamber 4<1> connected to the suction pipe 5. An air exhauster9 of the water-ring type on the same shaft as the pump, and having suction and delivery chambers in a casing 13, draws air from the pipe 5 through a pipe 18, or through a float controlled valve. The suction chamber of the air exhauster may serve as a reservoir for sealing water, and as a cooling water jacket for the exhauster. A strainer on the lower end of the pipe 18 collects grit.
