Abstract
378,403. Acoustic horns. WEITLING, T., 195, Fingerboard Road, Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island, New York, U.S.A. April 9, 1931, No. 10480. [Class 13.] A rigid sound-reproducing horn or cone has a peforated wall or walls 5 coated inside and out with a sounddamping material 7, 8, such as loosely compacted felt, burlap, carpet, plush felt, or sponge rubber. The body of the horn may be of metal, papier mache, wood, wicker, or bamboo and the slits, slots or other perforations 6 may be limited to parts of the body. The horn may be provided with transverse partitions 10, 11 and a surrounding concentric member 14, all constructed similarly to the coated walls 5. Two or more horns may be arranged concentrically or nested, or a horn may be provided with baffle-plates similar in construction to the coated walls.
