Abstract
378,166. Engaging load; lifting-dogs. BONTEMPI, G., 49, West 28th Street, New York, U.S.A. July 6, 1931, No. 19426. [Class 78 (iv).] A device for grip ping and raising sunk en vessels and other bodies consists of an inverted U-shaped framework 15, 17, each leg 17 carrying a grip ping-shoe 26 on links 20, 24. The gripping action of the shoes may be automatic or i may be assisted by pontoons 30 attached to levers 25, and simi lar pontoons 32 may be attached to the frame work 15. They are fitted with suitable air-supply connections 37, 38 to enable water to be forced out of them after they.have been sunk to position with the shoes 26 engaging with the sides of a sunken vessel &c. 29. In modifications the shoes are each mounted on a single arm 24 ; or two pairs of shoes are fitted on each side. The shoes may be variously shaped, and may be movable at one side only. The links 20 may be adjustable in lengths, or otherwise fitted so as to vary the positions of the shoes.
