Abstract

378,100. Paper-making machines. AITKEN, J. E., Westerton, Guard Bridge, Fife. Jan. 27, 1932, No. 12349/31. [Class 96.] In paper-making machines having an imperforate diaphragm beneath the wire-cloth 3 and adjacent the breast-roll 2, the diaphragm 7 comprises a strip of apron-cloth &c. secured to the first table-roll 4 and lying over certain of the remainder so as to be immovable in the direction of travel of the wire. The strip 7 is of the same width as the machine frame and may be secured to the side-bars 1, a cushion of water being maintained between the wire 3 and the diaphragm 7, and the fibres being felted by the shake prior to the pulp being drained.
