Abstract
Chill and die castings are made from copper-silicon alloys which may also contain zinc and not more than 2 per cent of one or more of the metals lead, antimony, bismuth, cadmium, tin, nickel, cobalt, manganese, iron, chromium, aluminium, titanium, tungsten, molybdenum, zirconium. A suitable alloy has the composition: 65-94 per cent of copper, 2-6 per cent of silicon, 3-28 per cent of zinc.
