[Class 98 (ii).] An animated picture-bearing device comprises a strip of stout paper having two lines of sprocket perforations therein and a coating of adhesive, adapted to receive printed paper pictures which are affixed thereto by the adhesive. As shown in Fig. 1, a strip 1, of brown paper coated with gum, is provided with sprocket perforations 7 and with longitudinal and transverse markings 6, 5 to locate a series of pictures 2. The marginal portions of the strip may be strengthened by additional strips affixed thereto, or by folding the edges. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which pictures are affixed to both sides of the strip. Fig. 5 shows a further modification in which the margins are reversely folded, the picture strip 2 being located against the edges 1b and being also provided with sprocket perforations 7. The strips may be used in hand viewing apparatus, or for projection. The strips may be cut away from sheets of paper by passage between rotary cutters carried by drums also furnished with punches to produce the sprocket perforations and, if desired, with raised ribs to print the longitudinal and transverse lines. Adhesive is applied by drawing the strips through a pair of rollers the lower of which rotates in a trough of adhesive.
