Abstract

357,918. Soles for boots &c. SHORTLAND, H. L., Express Works, Church Street, Irthlingborough, near Welling- borough, Northamptonshire. Feb. 9, 1931, No. 4026. [Class 17 (ii).] An inset 3 of rubber or like material with tapered lateral extensions 4 extending beyond the edges of an aperture 2 in a leather sole 1 to the edg of the sole 1 is provided. The extensions 4 may be secured by stitching 8 to the welt 6 and leather sole 1. A further line of stitching 2a around the edge of the aperture 2 may connect the rubber inset 3 with the leather sole 1. The aperture in the leather portion may be tapered outwardly and the rubber inset may be correspondingly shaped, and the inset 3 and sole 1 may be connected at this portion by adhesive.
