Abstract
346,409. Reinforced concrete. BAUER, B., 51, Mariahilferstrasse, Vienna. Oct. 5, 1929, No. 30241. [Class 20 (iv).] The self-supporting reinforcing skeleton of a ferro-conc r e t e building is formed with the column bars 1 larger in cross section than that required merely to reinforce the columns, so that the skeleton may extend through several floors to carry the shuttering before concreting. The bars 1, Fig. 1, abut end to end and are welded or joined by sliding sleeves 4, and connected or framed by distance pieces 2. Flat bars on edge, Fig. 3, or a cast-iron frame, Fig. 6, may be used. The column reinforcement is completed by spirally-wound wire 5 or metal bands 6, or by a tube 7 of perforated sheet metal. The horziontal reinforcements, such as joists 9, Fig. 7, and sheet-metal beam moulds 13, Fig. 9, are carried by brackets 10 on bars 11, which are secured to the bars 1 by sleeves 2 and may overlap the ends of the bars 1.
