Emulsions, making.-The spreading of' bituminous emulsions upon stone aggregate for roads or upon the road surfaces themselves is facilitated by treating the aggregate or the road surface with solutions of pyridine or pyridine bases or by adding such solutions to the emulsions. The. solutions may comprise industrial waste liquors containing pyridine or pyridine bases. According to examples-(1) A tar or bitumen emulsion has added to it 3 per cent of a 1 per cent solution of pyridine and is then mixed with 12-15 times its weight of 10-30 mm. chippings. (2) The chippings, before adding an untreated emulsion, are mixed with 0.5-1.0 per cent of a 0.5- 2.0 per cent solution of pyridine. or pyridine bases.
