Abstract

332,155. Kunze, A. Oct. 24, 1929. Electrodes. - In order to secure a manganese dioxide depolarizer containing exciting salts to a carbon electrode, a small quantity of resin is mixed with the depolarizer. A resin such as coumarone resin is preferably used whose melting point is lower than the temperature at which the depolarizer evolves oxygen. The quantity of resin used is less than five per cent. The complete element consisting of carbon rod and depolarizer is heated to a temperature sufficient to melt the resin but insufficient to decompose the depolarizer.
