Opening by cutting.-A tagger-top tin is provided with a cover carrying a sliding cutter, the cover being attached to the body by screw-threads or interrupted threads, and being capable of use to afford a closure for the tin after the tagger has been cut out. The upper part of the cover 7 is enlarged either at one place or circumferentially to provide a housing 9 for the point 10 of the cutter 11 in the inoperative position. To cut out the tagger end 5 the cover is unscrewed to the position shown and the cutter slid inwardly. The pitch of the thread and the depth and angle of the cutter are so co-related that the act of screwing on the cover effects the cutting operation. The thread 3 on the body part of the tin is formed after the application of the tagger cover thereto ; the body seam 2 may at this end of the tin be replaced by an overlap, as shown.
